[edit] What is OpenHIMS?
It is an open integrated enterprise framework for building and maintaining health information system projects. It basically tries to answer questions on health information systems. It is not intended for complete use rather the sections relevant to the task at hand should be chosen.
[edit] Basis
- Modification of the Zachman Framework
- Practical Implementations particularly open source health information system projects e.g. DHIS, OpenROSA (mobile), OpenMRS (see more at this page )
- OpenEHR Modelling
[edit] Motivation
- Build and concentrate more on specifications - remove language-specific constraints (one should be able to build health information systems in almost any language)
- Allow multidisciplinary teams see each member's role more clearly
[edit] Deliverables
It should give us useful:
- Programming models
- Business models
- Implementation models
- Organizational models
- Management models
[edit] Perspective
These depend on your view/perspective of things, whether as:
- Patient
- Healthcare giver
- Hospital administrator
- Systems analyst/developer
- Programmer/coder
- Technical systems implementer
- Government administrator/planner
- Funder (external/internal)
- Global organization requiring reports (eg WHO)
Of course many times, we fit into more than one of these shoes.
