Why Ehealthpedia

Intelligence means being able to see the many levels of the whole in space and time and taking them into account when making a decision... It's all about context. The larger your context is, the more intelligent your decisions will be. It's about being able to think at different levels of reality at the same time.

After interactions with a number of people in the field, I found that the need for collaboration and getting in touch with other people doing similar things was not just a personal thing. I thought (and I still think) that an interactive web portal is an answer to this.

This is just one of the reasons I think ehealthpedia came up. A stronger reason was the need to get (an overwhelming number of) enthusiasts to speed thereby allowing a substantial number of people (e.g. health workers, programmers, project managers) with a need for ehealth or health informatics training but without the 'formal' certifications and, sometimes, time to enter the field.

In order words, people who would have found it difficult to apply some piece of informatics information to their projects or education can have a small kickstarting.

How far that kickstarting can go, in my humble opinion, is dependent on the individual...

Also important is that the health informatics world needs to create and emphasize what can be called an "informational ecology [1]" for the survival of the 'less-privileged'. By informational ecology, I mean a system where there is an informational food chain where the less-knowledgeable can not only feed on the remains from the meals of the information tigers but also learn to hunt.

lets connect and share principles, concepts, frameworks, projects and specifications!!!

I know that with time we would add more 'web 2.0-ish' tools to the wiki. The choice of tools will be informed by our collective need. We would really encourage people to contribute their knowledge and wisdom to developing their societies and 'less-priviledged" societies.

Welcome to ehealthpedia! Lets connect... lets brainstorm...

Truth is not to be found inside the head of an individual person, it is born between people collectively searching for truth, in the process of their dialogic interaction .
