Welcome to ehealthpedia!

The idea revolves round the concept of collaboration for development.

We all know the good that health informatics can do for us in the developing world. One major problem, however, is the lack of capacity to build and maintain health informatics projects. While we have found that health workers and informaticians realize that the internet is a place to get themselves equipped, there is no repository for health informatics resource.

This is partly because its a developing field. Formal university programs are, in many cases, just starting.

Because the only place you can have thousands of people meeting is on the internet, the internet is the best place to run a resource for everybody.

ehealthpedia.org aims to be an open/free resource for health workers and health informaticians.

We believe in the Open source Initiative and in the Millenium Development Goals.

We are happy to be associated with a growing number of bodies. You will find them on the wiki itself. There are numerous bodies that would like to contribute to using IT for the development of health all over the world, but lack an open collaborative platform for such - a wiki is a powerful collaborative tool for this.

If you ask me, who is behind ehealthpedia, I will say everybody. Its open! I am the webmaster for now. We have numerous editors - you, me and many others.

Now, I am beginning to think: how do we sustain this on the long term? We'll need you as an editor, mediawiki/php developer, contact person for some funding source, etc.

In summary...its about collaborating for development...
